What’s New?
We’re passionate about soap. We love making it. We love using it. And we love hearing from you. Tell us what you like. Tell us what you don’t like. We’ll post the good, the bad and the ugly.
So What’s New?

Red Rover Clover is new. We took every great soap-making ingredient we know and mixed it up in sort of a mad-scientist way. And because the scent’s called “Red Clover” (that’s what the bottle reads), we put a bit of shaved red crayon into it. We figured it would turn pink. Maybe. Nope. It turned peach.
Surprise!
Sometimes, we have to relearn our color wheel. We put red crayon shavings in with the oils that had a relatively high level of naturally yellow-colored palm oil. Red plus yellow = orange. Now that we look back on it, it’s silly that we didn’t figure it out BEFORE we added the red…but soap chemistry (saponification) can strip out a color or change it entirely. Note to selves: reduce the amount of palm oil if you want to achieve pink.
Mango Tango

Wait a minute. You’ve seen the name before. How is it new? We decided to tweak it a few different ways. In its previous incarnation, Mango Tango lacked lather and wasn’t as mild as we liked. How could we achieve both?
We went back to the recipe books and our notes. We needed a way to create more lather without stripping skins of their natural oils, and we needed an ingredient that wouldn’t mask the tropical mango/amber scent combination. What could we add that wouldn’t change the fragrance but change the soap’s reaction to skin and water? We kept coming back to shea butter…with a caveat. It had to be deodorized.
Shea butter is very moisturizing and adds a rich layer of lather that’s very similar to cocoa butter, but it lacks that strong vanilla scent. By adding shea butter to this soap, we’d get the tropical scent, the added lather and a much milder bar. It was a win-win from every angle, and we hope you’ll like the changes as much as we do!
